Wayne Brothers rely on MevaLite and SK150 bracket application

Wayne Brothers Companies, Davidson, NC

Wayne Brothers, one of MEVA’s original customers, was awarded the fermentation tank structure for a new brewery in Columbia, SC. This brewery will be one of the largest breweries built in the United States in over 25 years. The project scope consisted of a cast-in-place tank structure that needed to be built in 90 days so that the remaining building structure could be completed on time.

1.2 million-sq.ft. brewing and production facility constructed in Columbia, South Carolina

Founder Mark Anthony and CEO Anthony von Mandl were interviewed by the Columbia Business Report following the grand opening.

The magnitude of the project is breathtaking. 27 miles of stainless steel piping, 33 miles of steel roof framing and racks, 56 enormous stainless steel tanks, 126,000 tons of concrete, and more than 600 people on the site during the peak of construction during COVID.

Mark Anthony, Founder

According to Clayco, the designer builder of the project, the overall project represents a $400 million investment in Richland County, SC and is expected to create 300 new jobs.

MevaLite and SK150 pair up for 48” mat slab pour

The foundation of the tank structure consisted of a 48” mat slab with 3,400 cubic yards of concrete placed in one continuous pour over a 19-hour period. The MevaLite forming system with the SK150 brace bracket was a perfect solution eliminating the use of ties on the project. The positioning support of the SK 150 bracket allows for exact leveling and positioning of the bulkhead, even on sloped surfaces.

The brace backet can easily be attached to the MevaLite panels with a flange screw. There were 43 cast-in-place concrete columns poured using the Imperial forming system, supporting the upper tank structure and varying in size from 44-50 sq. inch. The Imperial system allowed the crew to pour the columns without using ties. The fermentation tanks are supported by the conventionally reinforced elevated concrete slab with circular openings cast in for each tank.

We appreciate the longstanding relationship we have with Wayne Brothers. It was a fun project for all involved and we look forward to working together again soon.
