History Meets Formwork at Columbus North Market

Lithko Contracting, LLC, Plain City OH/USA
Columbus North Market‘s history of expansion can be traced back to 1876. Now, the city is about to welcome a new landmark with the construction of The Merchant Building. The 32-story, $345-million development is situated next to this historic market at 59 Spruce St. This ambitious project, set to redefine the cityscape, will incorporate hotel rooms, office spaces, stores, and an expansion of the iconic North Market.

The Merchant Building project, led by Lithko Contracting, LLC, showcases a harmonious blend of history and modern construction practices. The proximity to the North Market adds a unique touch to this development. Lithko, known for its expertise as one of the United States’ largest concrete contractors, has chosen MEVA as the preferred formwork provider for this project.

Tony Weddel and Dave Russel, from Lithko Contracting, shared insights into their decision to partner with MEVA. With a history of using MEVA‘s equipment for more than 15 years, Tony expressed satisfaction with the quality of the form system and the excellent service provided by MEVA. When asked why MEVA is his preferred choice, Tony emphasized the proximity of MEVA U.S. headquarters located in Springfield, Ohio, just 45 minutes away, ensuring swift support when needed.

Addressing the unique features of The Merchant Building project, MevaLite was used with the SK150 bracket to form the pile caps and spread footing for an elevator shaft in a tieless application. MEVA Imperial Formwork was used to form the 26-foot tall foundation walls and columns.
