Mammut XT saves time
Rieder Baugesellschaft m.b.H. & Co KG
Thanks to the efficiency of the Mammut XT system, a new housing complex was built faster than the contractor anticipated.
The Goal
To build a multi-use housing complex on time and to budget
In the village of Schwoich near Kufstein, RIEDERBAU was building an attractive, 3,400m² housing complex. The development included 16 high-specification units located within a 16-metre-tall complex, as well as a food store with a bakery outlet and a basement car park.
The Project
Summary:
By choosing the Mammut XT formwork system, RIEDERBAU were able to simplify and therefore accelerate their construction process.
The Solution
- High-performance and cost-effectiveness
The contractor chose the Mammut XT wall formwork system to build the walls of the new development complex for the performance benefits it offered. The system has a fresh concrete load capacity of 100kN/m², which enables concreting operations to proceed rapidly. The combi tie hole integrated in the formwork frame allows the flexible combination of three tying methods in a single smart system: one touch suffices for switching between one- and two-sided tying, with or without plastic tube.
The site team quickly familiarised itself with the use of the formwork, its unique internally or centrally positioned tie holes and the innovative XT taper tie. The latter allows easy adaptation to the required wall thickness using spacer rings in 1cm increments. Operations on the site are further simplified by the recurring 20 and 25cm wall thicknesses on ground and upper floors. Once the thickness is set, the tie rods can be simply reused without any further adjustment, saving valuable time.
- Standard and bespoke sizes to meet customer needs
Mammut XT is ideal for large-panel construction with contact areas of up to 8.75m² per panel. In addition to standard sizes, RIEDERBAU also used special, custom-ordered sizes of the versatile system, which caters for upright and horizontal panel positioning, as well as vertical extensions. The panel sizes and availability of different widths made them extremely suitable for residential construction and enabled swift adaptation to the required dimensions. - A multi-functional, time-saving solution
The smart multi-function profile of the horizontally or vertically positioned Mammut XT panels provides for the attachment of tie rod fixtures for fast and safe transportation on site. Welded-in DW 15 nuts allow the quick and secure mounting of accessories with a single component: the flange screw. MEVA assembly locks, conveniently integrated into the cross-stiffeners of the 250 and 125cm wide panels, additionally simplify site logistics.
It also allows the simple and reliable on-ground preassembly of several panels into large formwork units, which the team used to build the 4.6-metre-tall walls. Particularly when casting high walls with large surface areas, the use of the singlesided tying method with pre-set XT taper ties provides time savings whilst also saving space on site for other works to progress.
The Outcome
Thanks to the efficiency of the concrete works, the future residents’ new home will be ready for occupation on time. In addition, the RIDERBAU team were extremely impressed by the benefits of the Mammut XT system and have invested in their own set of panels.
The system simplifies our work and achieves significant time savings. Having separate boxes with ties set for the two wall thicknesses considerably shortens assembly times – our operatives just need to reach into the right box. The 300/250 and 300/125 panels are also excellently suited for our residential contracts; the 40, 45, 50 and 60cm widths allow rapid, trouble-free adaptation. We are properly stocked up with all these sizes, which further speeds up progress on site.
