Aristeo Utilizes Imperial Formwork to Grow Ford Wayne Stamping Plant

Ford Motor Company, established in June 1903, stands as the largest family-controlled company in the world. Under the visionary leadership of Henry Ford and family, the company has driven continuous expansion all over the world for over a century. A hallmark of this growth was the opening of a groundbreaking 3.5 million-sq.ft. facility in Wayne, Michigan in 1957. The Wayne Plant, which seamlessly integrated both stamping and assembly operations on an unprecedented scale, remains the second-largest Ford manufacturing plant in the United States. Spanning 369 acres, the plant continues to evolve, adapting to the demands of modern automotive production.

In a recent project, Aristeo Construction was entrusted with an intricate task that required both innovation and expertise: the construction of a new pit within an area’s limited space. This pit was essential for enhancing the plant‘s stamping capabilities, which are crucial for the production of Ford’s latest truck designs.

Faced with the challenge of designing and executing a complex structure in a confined area, Aristeo selected the MEVA Imperial formwork and single-
sided systems. The solution involved the strategic use of single-sided pours, a decision driven by the compact nature of the building footprint. To achieve the precision required, the pit was poured using STB 450’s supports and corner braces, with slim soldiers expertly integrated in areas where the larger STB 450 couldn’t be used.

Aristeo’s longstanding experience with MEVA Imperial formwork proved invaluable. The team’s familiarity with the system’s high-strength capacity and versatility allowed them to confidently execute 20-ft.-high single-sided walls, ensuring the project’s success. “Our familiarity with the product made it the ideal choice for this challenging build,” said Connor Pettit, Aristeo’s Superintendent.

We at MEVA are proud to have supported Aristeo in this significant undertaking and extend our gratitude for their continued trust in our products. We look forward to collaborating on future projects that push the boundaries of construction and innovation.
