Cleveland’s market square

Cleveland Cement Contractors, Inc.

The contractor was impressed with MEVA’s exceptional support when building this new, mixed-use development in a historic area of Cleveland.

The Goal

To build a mixed-use development that complements the existing historic market
The Market Square project in downtown Cleveland, OH will include a new, multi-use, 12-story building. The structure will consist of luxury apartments and community spaces, retail and event space, and underground parking. Contractor Cleveland Cement chose MEVA systems for the underground parking garage, and the elevator and stair cores.

The Project

Summary:
Unique solutions and transparent collaboration from MEVA helped ensure the project progressed despite the issues encountered on site.

Challenge:
The contractor had not previously used MEVA systems before, so required additional support. In addition, last-minute design changes and unforeseen issues needed to be addressed quickly and collaboratively during construction.

The Solution

  1. Unique solutions for unforeseen issues
To build the elevator and stair cores, MEVA suggested the MGC-F rail-guided climbing system. The system and the MevaLite wall formwork create a single unit that is firmly anchored to the building for safe working in any weather. The innovative design means that the units also arrive pre-assembled and can be flown directly onto the wall, saving time, space, and labor.

For the parking garage, the MEVA HN slab formwork was used. The adaptable system can be quickly modified to accommodate different geometries, which was useful when last-minute changes needed to be made on site.

The MGC-F system distinguishes itself from other core formwork with a rail system allowing for quick and effortless advancement.  Once set, achieving a straight and plumb product is trouble-free. MEVA made our project feel like a priority, which is a rarity in the construction industry. We look forward to working with MEVA in the future.

  2. Superior customer service
To support Cleveland Cement with the use of their new formwork systems, MEVA’s sales and engineering team provided consistent site and technical support to ensure successful delivery.

The Outcome

The Market Square project was successfully completed and a new relationship with Cleveland Cement was developed as a result of this project.

The benefits of working with MEVA on the Market Square project are countless. MEVA’s design and support team were easily able to adapt HN to drawing changes and unforeseen issues in a timely manner. Having an open line of communication between designers and engineers, who are willing to hear our concerns and offer insights and solutions, is an invaluable resource.
