Cebu Yard Opening and Reconstruction

On November 11, MEVA Philippines has opened its newest facility in Mandaue, Cebu. It was an intimate event with selected guests from the best of the industry. They took the opportunity to get to know MEVA systems better.

Highlight of the night was the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony as a symbolic act of the official site opening – celebrated by guests of honor as well as the MEVA team, consisting of General Manager Marco Saridzic, Country Manager Erwin Parrone, Administration Manager Jayphi Salaysay, Technical Manager Egbert Balagtas and Site Operations Manager Boomi Muthu. MEVA Valuable Partner (MVP) Awards were presented in recognition of continued partnership. It was a memorable day that opened doors to new partnerships.

After that, there was a lot going on at the new MEVA premises. First, several orders still had to be processed in the old year, but only five weeks after the ceremonial opening, an uninvited guest dropped by: “Odette”. The typhoon swept across the Philippine archipelago with wind speeds of 250 km/h (155mph), claiming 200 lives and leaving 500,000 homeless. The island of Cebu was also badly affected. “Relief and reconstruction work is ongoing in the region, some areas are still cut off from water and electricity supply,” Marco Saridzic, General Manager of MEVA Philippines, reports on the aftermath of the disaster. Fortunately, none of the MEVA employees was personally affected by the accident. But the MEVA site that had just opened also suffered severe damage, especially the hall roof. Saridzic: “The repairs on the site will take a few more weeks until we are fully functional again.”

Then plenty of work awaits: deliveries of brand new Monofix formwork, rentals, refurbishment of MevaDec, MevaFlex, MEP, AluFix, EcoAs and Mammut are in the specification. In addition, a project using our automatic climbing system MAC is being prepared. Maintenance services will then also be offered.
